In case my dwindling loyal reader base is wondering what I’ve been up to —
I don’t offer it up as an excuse for not writing, for I am much more concerned with the well being of my family than the well being of my blog, which can become healthy once again at any moment.

1,353 days
September 13th, 2007 · No Comments
One thousand, three hundred and fifty five days. That’s a lot of time, when you consider it in terms of weeks (193.7) or even months (44.6). But it’s not a lot of time when you consider that’s how many days our older son went from the start of his life until his first […]
VoIP venture…complete
August 22nd, 2007 · No Comments
I’ve since canceled Packet8, and sent back their VOIP router (within the 30 day trial’s cancellation period). While the audio was clearer, and the score a whoppingly high 4.3 at testyourvoip.com, the calls would usually drop unexpectedly after about 10 minutes. Funny, I never noticed, and that probably says as much about each gender’s phone […]

Vacation…a-ha and a-ha!’s
August 14th, 2007 · No Comments
Just returned from two weeks in Bethany Beach DE, most days having been spent at our son’s swimming lessons followed by time at the beach. While most of our trip was uneventful, I noticed some peculiarities during my time there.
I don’t know what Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band looks like. My […]

As I went down in the lake to pray

A quick visit to Charlotte, NC this weekend to retrieve our 3 year old son from his oogling grandparents included some noteworthy events.
Swimming at the Hamilton Green community pool, which, as usual, included son Miles kicking and screaming upon exit from the facility. Some scientists say evolution is likely a series of steps that happened […]
So much for Sunrocket
July 18th, 2007 · 5 Comments
I have been a Sunrocket customer for 15 months now, and am no longer since they hung their customers out to dry, going belly up without notice this past weekend. The industry is calling the 200,000 of us “Sunrocket Orphans.” Orphan? What’s home phone service worth during this era of cell phones…not THAT much to […]

Round two of 2007
July 15th, 2007 · No Comments
Yesterday I had the opportunity to play The Creek at Hard Labor, a 3-year old golf course near Rutledge, GA, about 50 miles east of Atlanta. The occasion was the 31st birthday of a UGA grad school buddy named Ben. The course is quite hilly, in fact reminding me a lot of the […]
Miles’ size, according to the experts
June 18th, 2007 · No Comments
Miles is 38 1/2 inches tall, and 37 lbs. He is 3.5 years old. Exactly on the 50th percentile line, according to this source. However, his athletic ability, which is harder to measure, is far above average, including baseball, basketball, hockey, and golf.
Silverbacks are starving for offense…
June 18th, 2007 · No Comments
Finally got to an Atlanta Silverbacks game this year. The S’backs have struggled of late in USL First Division play, earning just 2 points (2 ties) in their last five games. They’re camped in 10th place (out of 12th teams), and played the last place California Victory on Sat. night at home.

Welcome Quinn!
June 8th, 2007 · No Comments
What do you say in a blog when you are the proud father…for the second time? You say, yeah! Quinn Wilcox Thompson, born 5/31/07 at 1616 EDT (GMT -4). Beautiful, quiet, peaceful, innocent. Sort of the yin to our 3-year-old’s yang, at least in terms of the night, which it always seems to […]
