Does the Electoral map and the distribution of African Americans in this country make you think that whites in the south can’t vote for a black candidate? Disconcerting, to say the least. Obama takes lily white Iowa but can’t carry SC, GA, AL, MS, or LA.
The new Google Phone, aka the T-Mobile G-1, aka “Android”, […]

Ray ban & the disappearing line between MLB & the Minors
November 15th, 2007 · 2 Comments
I’ve written about the dreadfulness of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays before…but I know I’m not the only one. Now they’ve changed their name, losing the “Devil” and the seagoing mascot, instead opting for the sun ray as their logo/mascot. Don’t mistake it for a ray of hope though. Their hat still […]

Let’s go to Coors to get some…Coke?
October 1st, 2007 · No Comments
I was happy to see the Colorado Buffaloes beat Oklahoma this past weekend…I went to CU-Boulder from ‘92-94, prior to transferring. I didn’t miss a single home football game, and rarely missed basketball games. But I was glad I left when I did (and haven’t made the effort to get back for Homecoming […]

Sounding Off on Silverbacks’ Second Place Finish
October 1st, 2007 · No Comments
As I’ve written before, Atlanta is the the City of Seconds, or more aptly, the Seconds City. But you better anunciate, as Chicago is also known as the “Second City.” Saturday night I rolled into Twain’s Billiards and Tap in Decatur for the “official game watching party” to watch our beloved Atlanta Silverbacks take a […]

Wanna buy the home of a former MLB All-Star?
September 27th, 2007 · No Comments
The AJC sure is generous. Today on the AJC home page, center fielder Andruw Jones and his family’s home is “featured.” Featured in the way a seller’s agent features their “open house of the week.” Andruw’s baseball contract is up, and rather than having a stellar year that would make his agent […]

Today I salute Jerry Rice
September 19th, 2007 · No Comments
Today I salute Mr. Jerry Rice, the NFL’s greatest receiver ever. I’m not the only one that wishes he was still playing, it seems ESPN’s Fantasy Football League 2007 still has him available…I just might pick him up for my team so that he can practice with my other fantasy team receivers, teaching them about […]

Halls of Fame…bet you’ve never been!
September 8th, 2007 · No Comments
At least the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be in Charlotte. Other sports Halls of Fame in the U.S. are positively out of the way, and while they are no doubt a boon to their local economies, I feel they do their sports a disservice by being so remote. The Hockey Hall of Fame is […]

LLWS - Largely Lily White Suburbanites
August 28th, 2007 · 1 Comment
As of 2005, the US population was estimated to be 80.2% white. However, our Little League World Series (LLWS) this year, according to my visual estimate, was 97.9% white. Of the 97 players shown in the team photos, 95 appeared to be caucasian. You too can play along, just click on the […]

Vacation…a-ha and a-ha!’s
August 14th, 2007 · No Comments
Just returned from two weeks in Bethany Beach DE, most days having been spent at our son’s swimming lessons followed by time at the beach. While most of our trip was uneventful, I noticed some peculiarities during my time there.
I don’t know what Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band looks like. My […]

Nickname game
July 28th, 2007 · 1 Comment
I think it started with J-Lo (Jennifer Lopez, and then K-Fed (Kevin Federline), T-Mac (Tracy McGrady), D-Wade (Dwyane Wade), and A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez).
I’m just glad it hasn’t made it’s way to Sheryl Crow, who would be “Escrow,” or Celine Dion (”Seedy”).
Others you can think of that just wouldn’t work?
