I’ve often said to colleagues and friends that reality tv is anything but…as the editors have the ultimate power in shaping the reality for the viewers. Tonight I watched almost an hour of Bear Grylls on The Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild. Not the first time, perhaps the last. His editors and camera crews piece […]

Nickname game

I think it started with J-Lo (Jennifer Lopez, and then K-Fed (Kevin Federline), T-Mac (Tracy McGrady), D-Wade (Dwyane Wade), and A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez).
I’m just glad it hasn’t made it’s way to Sheryl Crow, who would be “Escrow,” or Celine Dion (”Seedy”).
Others you can think of that just wouldn’t work?

"Nice shot! How did that deer NOT see you?"

Hunter: “I think he was checking out the Christian fish on my camo, wondering how that image got carved into that tree. He then thanked God for letting him survive to the last day of hunting season, started to cross himself with his left front hoof, and WHAM!, he was done.”
Friend: “At least HE’S […]

I’m not sure what to make of such a number, but I appreciate being called both Insightful and a Linguist. If I were truly an Insightful Linguist though, don’t you think I would have recognized the above portrait of Charles Dickens from his boyhood? Take your IQ test.

A real no-brainer am I…
July 31st, 2006 · 1 Comment
According to TestDex’s Sminds short Right Left Brain test, I am 56% right brained, 32% left. Getting a little closer to 100% probably would have been nice, but is not a given, according to the disclaimer.
However, I’ve always thought of myself as a left-brainer, and thus also took the Hemispheric Dominance test, in which I […]

Is it where you’re from, or where you are?
June 3rd, 2006 · 2 Comments
So I’m 49% Dixie. I don’t think that’s anything to be ashamed of, and in fact a lot of my friends here would probably be upwards of 80%. I now laugh (inside, of course) when talking to my California friends, one who both begins and ends many of his sentences with the word “dude,” often […]
