Just a boy and his pop…

September 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Tues. afternoon, 9/16/08, Atlanta
“Hmmm, my calendar is empty Friday.  My Cubs ticket auction ends tonight, and no one is even close to the reserve price.  I wonder if my high school buddy could get us a deal at his hotel?  Fares…not too bad..$233 a piece, and with AirTran’s double credits deal, this would mean Miles […]

When parenting takes precedence…

May 9th, 2008 · No Comments

In case my dwindling loyal reader base is wondering what I’ve been up to —
I don’t offer it up as an excuse for not writing, for I am much more concerned with the well being of my family than the well being of my blog, which can become healthy once again at any moment.
Grooved to Citizen […]

As I went down in the lake to pray

July 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

A quick visit to Charlotte, NC this weekend to retrieve our 3 year old son from his oogling grandparents included some noteworthy events.
Swimming at the Hamilton Green community pool, which, as usual, included son Miles kicking and screaming upon exit from the facility. Some scientists say evolution is likely a series of steps that happened […]

Gulf Breeze…mmm…feels good

March 27th, 2007 · No Comments

I had the opportunity to make a quick visit to the Florida panhandle this weekend with son Miles. We drove down to visit my uncle Curtis, and made our first spring trip to the Pensacola area since 2001 (we always go in November).
Several fun activities were involved, including:
1) Two trips to the local beach […]

Food, fun, and pheatre

March 7th, 2007 · No Comments

This past weekend we visited Cincinnati for some good old family fun.
Highlights:
Seeing the Children’s Theatre production of Noah’s Ark. Interesting point Laura noted…that the name “God” was never mentioned, only “the man upstairs”, the “great one” (I thought that was Gretzky), the “almighty one,” etc.
Eating at Ferrari’s Little Italy and Bakery, where I had […]

Shut Up and Travel, then Sing

November 27th, 2006 · No Comments

Our November travel has ended. We are without Miles this week. And we just got back from “Shut Up & Sing,” the documentary movie about the Dixie Chicks.
Thanksgiving week in Northern Virginia was nice this week, particularly after the cold rain left. We enjoyed far too much delicious home cooking, especially the desserts. Dinner at […]

Charlotte, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Home!

November 14th, 2006 · No Comments

I’ve always liked the timestamp style of blog journalism, but also see it overused…so I apologize ahead of time if you feel either abused or confused, as this entry is as much for me as it is for you.
Thursday, Nov. 9th1:43 pm - We enter South Carolina in our trusty Mazda Protege, to enjoy the […]

"Panhandle-ing" in Pensacola

November 6th, 2006 · No Comments

Made the annual 320 mile schlep down to old Gulf Breeze, FL this past weekend. We attended the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival in Pensacola’s Seville Square on Saturday, which was much larger than in past years, as the whole downtown area has been rebuilt since Hurricane Ivan in 2004, and in a good way. […]

Bethany Beach Wrap

July 27th, 2006 · 2 Comments

The infrequency of my posts may be frustrating to those expecting me to churn out posts like Trent, and I understand. However, I think the “one or two per week” is more my style, as the daily grind takes it toll.
Our family returned yesterday from a week’s visit to Bethany Beach, DE, staying with my […]
